Lambing continues to keep me on my toes!!
Three sets of triplets today!! Including a picture perfect, unassisted set with one minor issue...
Man, does she have legs!
Still digging into my data to see if I can find some correlation between these ewes going down with pregnancy toxaemia and my management system...
And I think I'm finally on to something...

  • That brown wool, with a slight reddish tint, is beautiful. Once upon a time, I had an outfit made from undies wool. It was a luscious deep mahogany. I miss the days when wool what is a commonly used material. The new scientific designed materials today, just do not feel right, they do keep you warm, but they do not warm your bones like wall does. Those wonderful warm breathable blankets, I sweat terribly. When I use my Pendleton wool blanket, I warm and I do not sweat.

Lynn MasonLynn Mason12 ditë më parë
  • Why do you have them in such tiny pens? That’s how they get stepped on or laid on.

  • You must always read drug instructions before administer them. ALWAYS. Only instruction can say if is it safe to inject that drug under the skin, or it must be injected in a vein strictly. Many Calcium solutions can cause severe damage, up to necrosis, if they injected under the skin instead of intravenous.

  • Sandi I think you are doing a great job. I have learned a lot. Apparently there are many of us subs who also watch Justin Rhodes channel and his ewes are lambing for the first time and he had a head stuck issue and alot of us subs referred him to watch your channel to learn about lambing and when to go in and assist. They plan to cull this first timer because of this. One lived and one died. His reason to cull her is that they want a strong herd that doesn't need assistance. I about fell over when I saw his response to a subs comment. I feel so bad for that first time ewe. SO you are doing a great job! You give your ewes a couple of chances.

South Bridge FarmSouth Bridge Farm14 ditë më parë
  • I am wondering if the correlation with the preg tox on the ewes and them missing cycles could also be correlated with genetics? Such as a daughter of a ewe that had preg tox or other issues such as a trend with breeding issues from a ewe and possibly her daughters having the same issues?

T WayAwareT WayAware15 ditë më parë
  • I realize this is a business. But I personally have a different and difficult time processing the idea that these ewes, created by God, who I believe have feelings are disposed of because they cannot produce new lambs every year to eventually be sold to be disposed of as meat as well. I totally understand your stress, but I think we all would be better off sticking to a vegetarian diet. I feel bad for the sheep. And it isn't easy for you. Great job taking care of that poor sick ewe. And on your research on toxic pregs. Prayers.

  • WOW. I watch Justin Rhodes, he just gave a a first time ewe a date with the freeze because his ewe had difficulty delivering her first lamb presenting incorrectly. The feet were there for quite some time,he chose not to pull, the feet went back in and the lamb repositioned and presented nose only. So he finally pulled the lamb and the second one was still born. He only had five ewes. So one dead lamb, one live lamb and he's going to butcher the ewe.

  • I think sometimes in life we feel like if we have to place "blame " on yourself or someone else. When it's when there is a "problem " is when we actually learn the most important things about ourselves and it's though that we grow and if we didn't grow then I think you truly fail. You are learning so much though this time. Even gravity was discovered by accident!!!!✌✌✌👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️ You are a amazing person and that sheep are lucky to have you in thier corner!!🐑🐑🐑🐑

  • I know there are sheep ranchers who maintain their flock outside protected by livestock dogs. I would guess that ewe’s that have problems are lost to predictors or just die. A certain level of the “strongest” survive possibly has a positive long term effect on the flock. So, I agree that giving ewe’s or ram’s too many “chances” make ultimately weaken your flock.

  • Glad to hear you are going to continue with your research of your data, as all ewes who have missed a lambing the last 2 or 3 years should be part of the study, not just the ones who had preg tox, to get a proper analysis of the situation. That Gallagher was a great investment. I noticed Lucy was outside the barn in the evening, could be she was out with Mark or Jess, but if she's out alone the coyotes could lure her off and kill her, (I remember that video a while ago of the coyote right up at your barn).
